The sebaceous (oil) glands of oily skin are too active and
produce too much oil. The following characteristics define oily skin:
·Pores are visibly more noticeable than other
skin types
·Pores are medium to large in size
·Skin has a shiny appearance
·Skin is usually thicker, firmer and less
sensitive than other types.
Oily skin appears moist often in ages 12 to 22, but some
people may have oily skin all of their lives. Although there is a tendency for
clogged pores, blackheads and blemishes, the good news for oily skin is that it
can have a youthful appearance and does not show signs of aging as quickly as
other skin types.
